01. Faster and smarter
engine
The new and compact 150cc engine offers best-in-class power and high torque for a wide range of riding situations. Mass centralization in the engine contributes to the machine’s light and agile handling, while fuel injection and electronic exhaust control are used for the first time on this model. Routine maintenance of the new engine is easy thanks to the clear markings on the engine covers. They show where to check the oil level in the transmission and where to drain the coolant.
cylinder
The diameter of the cylinder bore is 58 mm. Since the TC 150 is equipped with electronic fuel injection (EFI), an innovative electronic exhaust control system is used instead of the traditional control roller. With the help of a servomotor, the side exhaust port and the main exhaust port are opened simultaneously, enabling maximum power development.
crankshaft
The low weight of the crankshaft improves throttle response and reduces vibrations to a minimum. This component is also precisely positioned so that the effects of the rotating masses have very little influence on the handling of the motorcycle.
crankcase
Thanks to high-pressure casting processes, the crankcases can be manufactured with a thinner wall. This reduces the overall weight and optimizes mass centralization. Symmetrical engine mounts improve the bending properties of the chassis and thus handling. Inside, all engine components are positioned so that an ideal center of gravity is achieved.
transmission
The 6-speed gearbox, built exclusively by Pankl Racing Systems AG, guarantees a high level of durability and reliability. The redesigned shift drums and shift forks allow for lower leverage for significantly smoother, more precise shifting. The shifter is designed to prevent dirt buildup and ensure perfect gear changes in all conditions.
DS clutch
The TC 150’s unique DS clutch features a steel clutch pressure plate with a single diaphragm instead of conventional coil springs. Located in a CNC machined clutch basket, the clutch is extremely durable and contributes to the engine’s compact layout.
02. Light and lively
Chrome-molybdenum frame
In the chrome-molybdenum steel frame, the wall thickness has been optimized in all areas that are exposed to high loads. This ensures reliability, modern geometries and bending properties that enable unique feedback, outstanding energy absorption and excellent tracking stability. The frame is covered in a high quality blue metallic powder coating and the redesigned standard frame protector provides premium protection, durability and grip in all conditions.
Polyamide-reinforced aluminum rear frame
The two-part rear frame consists of 60% polyamide and 40% aluminum. This allows for exceptional strength and durability with a total weight of just 1.8kg. For even greater reliability, the lower bars of the rear frame and the frame mounts are made of cast aluminum. The upper part of the rear frame is made from polyamide injection molding to provide specific flexibility and keep weight down.
Fork bridge
Matching the new frame design and suspension set-up, the CNC-milled fork bridge offers a precisely calculated geometry for increased stability. The flexibility of the handlebars can be adjusted using the new handlebar clamp bridge. This allows two mounting options: rubber-damped for less vibration and fixed for better feedback from the front wheel. The upper fork clamp is stiffer to ensure smoother fork action and plays an important role in perfectly aligning the front wheel for exceptional handling.
WP XACT fork
The closed cartridge system of the WP XACT-USD 48mm forks consists of an encapsulated, adjustable air spring and a pressurized oil chamber to provide smooth operation and comfortable damping. Oil and air bypass systems reduce pressure peaks and provide the rider with more precise feedback along with the mid-valve damping system and a hydrostop that provides progressive damping force over the last 40 mm of travel. The fork can be easily adjusted via a single air pressure preload valve and easy-to-reach click adjusters for rebound and compression. A pump for adjusting the spring pressure is included with every motorcycle.
WP XACT shock absorber
The WP XACT shock absorber offers 293 mm of travel. Inside, a main piston optimized based on computational fluid dynamics (CFD) allows for improved comfort and strong grip in all conditions. Different sized holes allow the shims to open more easily, reducing resistance to oil flow. Together with low-friction SKF seals in the deflection system, consistent damping, comfort and traction are guaranteed. In addition, rebound and high- and low-speed compression damping can now be adjusted manually.
swingarm
The swingarm is manufactured using a die-casting process to ensure optimal rigidity. In order to take the bending properties of the new chassis into account, a new rear wheel axle with 22 mm is used. In addition, the chain guide has a smooth profile that prevents it from getting caught on external objects.
03. Ergonomics without effort
Functional bodywork
The bodywork is designed to allow riders to perform at their best for longer. After countless hours of testing and improvements, larger contact points and surfaces in the riding position ensure improved comfort, which in turn slows fatigue. A high, flat seat offers unrestricted freedom of movement, and a non-slip cover ensures the rider stays firmly in the saddle even under hard acceleration.
Air filter box
A sturdy, one-piece air filter box design with optimized air inlet reduces air distortion for unrestricted airflow and maximum filter performance. The Twin Air filter can be accessed without tools simply by removing the left side panel.
Hydraulic clutch
Brembo’s high-performance hydraulic clutch system guarantees even wear, virtually maintenance-free operation and perfect function in all conditions. With this hydraulic system, the play is continuously compensated so that the pressure point and function of the clutch remain the same at all times and in cold or hot conditions. Countless hours of testing under racing conditions demonstrate the outstanding reliability of Brembo’s high-quality, Italian-made hydraulic system.
Hydraulic brakes
When it comes to brakes, the highest level of performance is guaranteed thanks to the Brembo brake calipers, which are market-leading in their class. They are each made from a single piece of aluminum, allowing for maximum robustness with minimal weight. Together with a revised 260 mm front brake disc and a 220 mm rear brake disc, which offer even better dirt evacuation, first-class braking performance and high reliability are guaranteed in all conditions. The fixed rear brake pedal ensures excellent durability and consistent braking performance.
ProTaper handlebars
Developed between Husqvarna Motorcycles and leading handlebar manufacturer, ProTaper, the exclusive bend offers superior comfort, class-leading strength, and fatigue resistance at the lowest possible weight.
ODI handles
ODI’s lock-on grips feature an innovative, integrated throttle actuation mechanism and are installed without adhesive. The play of the throttle actuation mechanism can be adjusted just as easily as alternative scenes can be installed for individually adapted throttle response.
Footpegs
The footpegs developed with CFD are particularly wide and allow for better control of the motorcycle, but at the same time are less prone to getting caught in deep ruts, when scrubbing or on track barriers. This is achieved through a slimmer mounting concept that is integrated into the frame and also saves weight.
04. Become a master of your craft
wheel and tires
With CNC-milled hubs, lightweight spokes and sturdy, black anodized light alloy rims from DID, the wheels of the TC 150 offer stability and minimal unsprung masses. The new Dunlop Geomax MX34 motocross tires feature the proven block-in-block design, providing better control and superior grip on a variety of surfaces.
Exhaust system
Tailored specifically to the TC 150 engine using an innovative 3D design process, the exhaust pipe ensures maximum power across the rev range. The silencer is easily mounted using an aluminum bracket for strength at the lowest possible weight, with an advanced internal construction ensuring excellent noise damping without sacrificing performance.
Cooling system
Made from high-strength aluminum, the coolers were designed using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) to guarantee maximum efficient airflow. A large center tube through the frame reduces pressure at this point in the system and ensures an even flow of coolant, while an internal thermostat further increases reliability.
Fuel tank
The 7.2 liter fuel tank fits seamlessly into the ergonomic bodywork and features a robust rubber pad under the tank that protects the frame from wear. Thanks to the one-piece fuel pump and integrated filter, the tank can be further emptied, allowing for longer driving time. The external fuel line is routed to be less susceptible to damage, improving its reliability.
05. State-of-the-art technology
EFI
The electronic fuel injection of the TC 150 brings numerous advantages. The engine control unit continuously analyzes the engine’s operating conditions and delivers a perfect fuel-air mixture to the state-of-the-art 39mm Keihin throttle body at all times. The new electronic fuel injection also enables the introduction of two new engine mappings, which can be selected via the handlebar-mounted switch for a customized driving experience. Map 1 (white) is intended for hardpacks, while Map 2 (green) is the more aggressive program intended for sand and heavier soils. Additionally, a revised reed valve system improves intake tract sealing and prevents excessive fuel buildup that would otherwise result in an excessively rich mixture during extreme uphill or downhill stretches.
Electric starter system
To ensure a quick start in all conditions, the TC 150 is equipped with a very reliable start button. This means that there is no need for a Kickstarter at all. The space thus gained above the engine is used to accommodate the EFI and the electronic exhaust control. The lithium-ion battery with 12.8 V and 2 Ah is mounted under the driver’s seat near the center of gravity and therefore does not affect the handling of the TC 150. The engine is started and stopped in a user-friendly manner using one and the same switch on the handlebars.
Map select switch
The TC 150’s electronic fuel injection (EFI) offers two different engine mappings for different driving conditions. Map 1 (white) is the lean mapping for hardpacks and slippery tracks because it offers a linear, predictable performance development. Map 2 (green) is more aggressive and designed for maximum performance and reliability on sand and heavier surfaces. The rider can easily select the appropriate mapping using the handlebar-mounted mapping selector switch.
Engine management system
The Engine Management System (EMS) is small, lightweight and designed for fast data processing. It features a tilt sensor (ROS) that cuts the ignition and switches off the engine in the event of a serious accident to increase safety.
Hour counter
The hour meter is equipped with an integrated fuel level indicator light, which is output via the electronic fuel injection status LED and, if necessary, alerts the driver that it is time to refuel.
Start/stop button
The combined start/stop button is located on the right side of the handlebar and can be easily operated with your thumb. Not only does it make it easier to start and stop the engine, the lack of a separate stop button on the handlebars also reduces the risk of potential damage or unintentional switching on in the event of a fall.
